Despite the number of alien invasion movies we’ve had over the years, little green men have still failed to arrive on Earth and take over, but that’s not going to stop Hollywood suggesting they might. Now THR reports that Paramount has bought a pitch, currently just known as Confidential Alien Project, which revolves around alien abductions, for Michael Bay to produce through his Platinum Dunes banner.
The pitch came from first-timer Bobby Glickert, who apparently cut together a two-minute teaser to try and attract buyers, and it worked. However Glickert won’t pen the script, as Platinum Dunes is apparently now looking for writers for the movie.
Alien invasions really are big at the moment, as Bay alone has Transformers 3 (which is technically an alien invasion) and he’s producing Dreamworks’ I Am Number, about teen aliens hiding on Earth, under threat from a different race of extra-terrestrials. Sony is lining up Battle: Los Angeles, Universal has Skyline, while Paramount is busy with Cowboys and Aliens. Let’s just hope Hollywood hasn’t over-estimated the audience desire for aliens attacking.
