Variety is reporting that Brett Ratner’s production company, Rat Entertainment, has picked up the feature rights to the comic series, The Unknowns. However, don’t worry, this doesn’t mean Ratner is going to direct a film (which is rarely good news), as at the moment he’s only down to produce, and is busy looking for a screenwriter and a director.
Created by Mark A. Altman, Steve Kriozere and model/actress Monica Olsen – with the main character based on the looks of Olsen – The Unkowns follows Alexis Davenport, who believes she’s just a normal person, but then starts to realise that she was once the skilled leader of a mysterious team called The Unknowns. She then finds her life getting very dangerous as she seeks discover why her memories were erased, and exactly what her part was in a massive, secret global consipracy.
The whole thing definitely has shades of Tomb Raider, but Brett Ratner likes being derivative, so that shouldn’t be a problem for him. At the moment things are at a very early stage, so don’t expect to see an Unknowns movie anytime soon.
