I still don’t quite understand how Sam Worthington can have gone from being unknown, to landing the lead roles in three of the biggest movies of the last year, seemingly with no intermediate stage. Normally you get one big film to truly launch you, not three of the most coveted roles all at once, landing them before anyone’s actually seen what you can do at the box office.
But he’s certainly a big star now, and has lined up a huge array of possible future projects, ranging from a Dracula movie to Clash of The Titans 2, and has even signed a deal with comics company Radical Publishing, to develop titles with them that he could potentially star in. Now it seems he’s officially attaching himself to another flick, with Variety reporting that he’s onboard for Man On A Ledge, based on a script by Pablo Fenjves about a female psychologist dealing with a male police officer who threatens to jump to his death.
It certainly fits with what Worthington has been saying recently, that following Avatar, Clash and Terminator he wants a few roles that aren’t just about him looking pretty while CGI swirls around him.
Asgar Leth (Ghosts Of Cite Soleil) is in talks to direct, having become free when Universal pulled the plug on his Mexican druga drama Cartel, which Josh Brolin was set to star in. Hopefully he’ll have more luck this time.
