As expected, Marvel did the big Avengers reveal at their Comic-Con panel, lining all the main actors up on stage for the world to see. The big news was that, as rumoured, Mark Ruffalo will be taking over from Ed Norton as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, while we also got official confirmation that Jeremy Renner will play Hawkeye.
So who are we definitely going to get in the film:
Iron Man (Tony Stark) – Robert Downey Jr.
Agent Phil Coulson – Clark Gregg
Black Widow – Scarlett Johansson
Thor – Chris Hemsworth
Captain America (Steven Rogers) – Chris Evans
Nick Fury – Samuel L. Jackson
Hawkeye – Jeremy Renner
The Hulk (Bruce Banner) – Mark Ruffalo
Joss Whedon will direct, with the film expected in cinemas 2012. Marvel has also launched the Avengers teaser site, but as you’d expect for a film that’s so far away, it doesn’t feature much more than the movie’s logo at the moment. You can see the official cast photo above, and the logo is below. Incidentally, Marvel also screened the first footage/trailers for Thor and Captain America, with much praise for what was seen (fears that the Thor costumes etc. looked silly were apparently washed away). Hopefully it’ll show up online soon, but for a report from people who were at the Marvel Comic-Con panel /Film provides description for both Captain America and Thor.
