Comic-Con officially opened yesterday and one of the biggest events of the day was the Tron: Legacy panel, and to help up the hype, Disney also released a new image (which you can see above) and a new trailer (which is embedded below). Both are rather cool, so drink them in.
At the panel itself, there wasn’t a vast amount of new news, other that titbits like the fact Jeff Bridges will play both Kevin Flynn and Clu, a program created in the computer world that looks exactly like the creator. However as Clu is virtual and has been around since the original Tron in the early 80s, they’re digitally de-aging Bridges to take him back to his 20-something self. Indeed, if you watch the new trailer below, you can see a de-aged Bridge as both himself talking to his young son in the early 80s and as Clu.
It was also revealed (info via CinemaBlend), that Tron Legacy director Joseph Kosinski revealed that in order to help promote the film, Disney are planning to re-release the original, saying I think you can expect to see the original Tron in some pretty exciting formats very soon. Many are taking this as a suggesting the House Of Mouse are converting the 1982 movie to 3D, although that’s yet to be confirmed.
Anyway, take a look at the insanely cool new trailer below. Tron: Legacy reaches cinemas on December 17th.
