While the title has always struck me as a bit naff, the concept behind Battle: Los Angeles is definitely intriguing – a real time alien invasion movie, in which the full force of the US miltary is brought to bear against extra-terrestrials attacking LA. It’s promised as a truly massive spectacle, with FX way beyond what we’ve seen before.
Sony has used Comic-Con to launch its marketing campaign for the film (a viral is also running through the website ReportThreats.org), showing the first footage from the film at a panel and releasing the first official photos. While the images below are character shots of Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez, if you take a closer look at the pic above, what initially seem just like a few helicopters actually has a flying saucer crashing in the bottom right.
If you’d like a description of the footage that was screened, head over to /Film. And at the bottom of this report you can find some cast and crew interviews Movieweb nabbed before the Battle: Los Angeles panel. Expect the movie in cinemas next March.
