Rob Lowe Is Going To Melt With You – Joining Piven and Jane in Mark Pellington’s film

20th July 2010 By Tim Isaac

Just last week we reported on the director Mark Pellington (Arlington Road, The Mothman Prophecies) had added Thomas Jane and Mark Piven to his planned new movie, I Melt With You, a thriller that follows the interconnecting lives of four men. That left two more major roles to fill, and now appears Pellington has found an actor for one of them, as Deadline reports Rob Lowe has joined the film.

Having left TV’s Brothers & Sisters, Lowe has a bit more time to fill, and he’s decided that Pellington’s nicro-budget sub $1 million budgeted movie is that way to go, playing ‘a doctor struggling with deep personal loss and a growing drug addiction.’

Although not a huge amount is known about the movie, Pellington recently commented, “I am 48 and found a dearth of of films that speak to my life experience. Where is my generation’s version of Cassavetes’ Husbands? It is hard to get anything idiosyncratic made for a budget. I have been shooting music videos on small cameras at low cost and wanted to apply it to a film. This is about four guys and deals with mortality, aging and friendship. It is very dark and very low budget. I have nothing against the larger budget movies I have made. I just want to make movies and doing it this way improves my chances.”
