Although Ben Affleck probably wishes it were different, there’s little doubt that he got far more praise as the director of Gone Baby Gone than he ever did in anything he’s ever acted in. Now he’s back behind the camera with The Town, and also takes a role in the film, presumably hoping to elevate his reputation as a thespian from the bottom of the barrel. While the jury’s still out on him as an actor, The Town is getting some positive buzz, and now the first trailer has arrived. Based on Chuck Hogan’s novel, the film is about the leader of a group of armed robbers (Affleck) who’s planning their next heist, but starts to get close to the bank manager (Rebecca Hall) he briefly took hostage during their last robbery, even though she isn’t aware that’s who he is. The film also stars Jeremy Renner, Blake Lively, Peter Postlethwaite and Chris Cooper and should reach UK cinemas this autumn. Click below to watch the trailer.
