The First Class of X-Men is filling up as Matthew Vaughn prepares to shoot the prequel, which follows the relationship between a young Professor X (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) as they set up a school for mutants, but are faced with a massive threat that tears their friendship apart and sends them in very different directions.
THR now reports that Winter’s Bone actress Jennifer Lawrence has joined the cast of X-Men: First Class as a younger version of Mystique, the blue-skinned shapeshifter memorably played by Rebecca Romijn in Bryan Singer’s X-Men movies. They also confirm that Kevin Bacon has completed a deal to play the villain, although Fox is keeping tight-lipped about exactly what character he will play.
The report also confirms Nicholas Hoult, Alice Eve, and Caleb Landry Jones as appearing in the film, although there’s no mention of Aaaron Johnson, who has been strongly linked to the trole of Cyclops, even if others have called this complete balderdash. Don’t be suprised if all becomes official next week, as with shooting due to begin soon in London, it’s thought Fox may want to officially reveal the film’s complete line-up at next week’s Comic-Con.
