As you can see above, a new image from Thor has been released (via the LA Times), giving us out first look at Anthony Hopkins as Odin and Tom Hiddleston as the villainous Thor. Incidentally it’s also the first thing officially released by Marvel where we have Thor holding his infamous hammer.
The article alongside the image also revealed that they’ve decided to convert the movie to 3D (which was inevitable, whatever you think of post-converting movies). “We came to feel that in our case 3-D could be the very good friend of story and character for a different kind of experience,” director Kenneth Branagh says, “It’s another draft of the story that can reveal itself in a different way. I had a healthy degree of skepticism up front … I’ve become somebody extremely excited about working with possibilities of doing it this way.”
Apparently Marvel is planning to use its Thor/Captain America ComicCon presentation to woo fanboys to the idea of a conversion, and they’ve promised they’ll spend ‘an unprecedented amount of time’ getting it right. Thor hits cinemas May 6th, 2011.
