We figured it must be happening fairly soon, as all manner of Alien related special features having been passing through the BBFC recently, but now it’s been officially announced that all four Alien movies will hit Blu-ray in the UK in an Alien Anthology box set on October 25th.
Along with two versions of each movie in high-definition, the Blu-ray set will also include the most complete set of Alien related special features ever assembled, including everything from the laserdisc edition, as well as the Legacy and Quadrilogy releases on DVD. That’s over 60 hours of special features and more than 12,000 images.
These will be presented either seperately or in what Fox is describing as ‘The Exclusive and Groundbreaking Interactive Experience, MU-TH-UR Mode’, which will basically put control in the user’s hands and connects the features across the six discs. Quite how it’ll do this isn’t yet known, but it undoubtedly all sounds pretty cool, and definitely something to look forward to.
