Here’s the latest casting news coming out of Hollywood…
The cast of Friends With Benefits is growing, with a bit of a Zombieland reunion happening as both Woody Harrelson and Emma Stone have just signed onto the film. Of the numerous projects currently in the works that have gone by the name Friends With Benefits at some point (expect this one to change its title too, as a TV show by the same name is starting in the US this autumn), this is the one from director Will Gluck, which will star Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis as friends who attempt to have a sex-with-no-strings relationship, but it doesn’t quite work out that way. Andy Samberg, Jenna Elfman, Patricia Clarkson and Richard Jenkins have also signed on, with shooting scheduled to start later this month. (Source: TheWrap)
To be honest, while they’ve been filling out the cast of The Help in the last few months, I’ve been wondering when they’d get around to signing Allison Janney, who would seem to be perfect in a movie about a southern town in the 1960s rocked by the revelations of a black maid when she gives an interview to a writer. Janney will play the mother of Emma Stone’s interviewing character, while Viola Davis, Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Lowell, Octavia Spencer, and Jessica Chastain are also onboard. (Source: EW)
True Blood’s Sam Tramell has joined the increasingly impressive cast of Girls, Guns and Gambling, which also includes Dane Cook, Christian Slater, Chris Kattan, Anthony Hopkins and Gary Oldman. The actor, how plays bar owner Sam Merlotte in True Blood, will play a no-nonsense sheriff, who works alongside a corrupt cop, played by Cook. The story throws Elvis impersonators, Indians, modern cowboys, a 6-foot-tall blond assassin, a frat boy, a corrupt sheriff and a prostitute into a chase for a priceless American Indian artifact stolen during a poker game at an Indian casino. Shooting has just begun, under the direction of Michael Winnick. (Source: Variety)
Rescue Me star Olivia Crocichia has joined the Azazel Jacobs-directed indie comedy Terri, starring opposite John C. Reilly. The film is about large 14-year-old boy in a small town as he struggles to adjust to his difficult life. Crocicchia will play Heather, a pretty but sad girl who helps Terri cope with a frequently hostile world. The film started shooting last week. (Source: THR)
