A new rumour has emerged that Anton Yelchin may play Harry Osborn in the upcoming Spider-man reboot. However before we start to believe this too much, a couple things need to be taken into consideration. First is that following Star Trek and Terminator: Salvation, it’s almost compulsory for Yelchin to be rumoured for pretty much every major male role for someone under 25. Recondly, the the news of his possible Spider-man role comes from IMDB, which is notoriously lax when it comes to allowing users to add ‘rumoured’ cast members.
This doesn’t mean it’s necessarily untrue, just that it comes from a source it’s impossible to verify and that is not always 100% trustworthy. However he would certainly seem like a good choice for the role, and could hold his own against Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker.
Many are expecting a lot more Spider-man casting announcements at ComicCon (there’s a huge rush for the likes of The Avengers and X-Men: First Class, to get everything in place for a big reveal at the San Diego event), as it’s known for example they’re already auditioning possible Mary Janes so expect to hear more in a couple of weeks.
