While at the moment this needs to be classed as more rumours than fact, AICN is reporting that one of their trusted sources says Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson, is ‘one hundred percent locked at this point’ to play young Scott Summers/Cyclops in X-Men: First Class.
This news doesn’t come out of nowehere, as a few weeks ago Johnson was spotted taking a meeting with First Class director Matthew Vaughn and James McAvoy. Although Aaron could have just been catching up with the Kick-Ass director, McAvoy was shortly afterwards announced for the role of Charles Xavier, which upped the speculation Johnson would also be onboard in some capacity.
At the moment the only actors officially announced for the filmare McAvoy and Michael Fassbender (as young Magneto), although Alice Eve, Rosamund Pike, Amber Heard, Frank Dillane, Caleb Landry Jones, Benjamin Walker and others have all been rumoured to be in talks for the film. The speculation is that Fox wants to wait and wheel out its new class of mutants at Comic-Con later this month, shortly before the movie goes into production, so we’ve probably got a few weeks to wait before we discover whether the Aaron Johnson news is true.
X-Men: First Class, which charts the relationship between Professor X and Magneto, and the setting up of the school for mutants, before a rift opens between the friends when they attempt to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known, will be in cinemas June 2011
