Last week we reported that with The Last Airbender in the bag, M. Night Shyamalan is busy shopping his new original script around Hollywood. Although little is known about the film, it apparently has some supernatural elements (what else would you expect?), with a father tapping into strange powers to help find his missing son.
The movie also came with a pretty decent cast attached, with Bradley Cooper, Bruce Willis and Gwyneth Paltrow all said to be up for taking part. However it seems the Cooper news was premature, as according to Shyamalan himself, The A-Team star is now unlikely for the lead role. The director told Philly.com that because of scheduling conflicts with The Hangover 2, I dont think Bradley can do it because of that.
That’s assuming that’s the real reason, and it wasn’t that after seeing the abysmal reviews for Last Airbender and taking into account that Shyamalan’s previous movies were the awful The Happening and the massive flop that was Lady In The Water, that maybe working with Night isn’t the boon it once was. But we’ll just go with the scheduling conflict story, as that’s the default reason for everything that happens in Hollywood.
