It sounds like there must have been some major schedule changes in the last few weeks on Scream 4, as in the last month both Lauren Graham and Lake Bell signed up for the film, but now both have dropped out (although Graham’s departure has yet to be confirmed), due to scheduling problems.
However while those two are now out, three new names are in, with THR reporting that Adam Brody, Marley Shelton and Erik Knudsen have joined the cast. Planet Terror star Shelton will take the role vacated by Bell, a police officer who knew Neve Campbell’s character when they were both in high school. The OC’s Adam Brody will also be a cop, who’s recently graduated from college and wants everything to be like it is on CSI.
22-Year-Old Knudsen, who was a regular on Jericho and will be seen in the upcoming Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World and Beastly, will have what THR describes as ‘a role similar to the one played by Jamie Kennedy in the first two installments, a character who is familiar with horror movie conventions and a provider of comic relief’.
The film itself is set 10 years after Scream 3, and will allow us to catch up with Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette’s character’s as well as introducing a new bunch of younger serial killer-fodder, led by Emma Robert’s Jill Kessler. Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin and Nico Tortorella will also star, as will, of course, Ghostface. Scream 4 has just started shooting and will reach cinemas next April.
