With less than a year until its June 2011 debut in cinemas and production set to begin in August, it’s little wonder the rumours are coming thick and fast on the cast of Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class movie. Yesterday we reported that Alice Eve is up for the role of telepathic mutant Emma Frost, and now a new name has arrived who’s said to be the top choice for Banshee – Caleb Landry Jones.
Although he isn’t exactly a household name, 20-year-old Landry has appeared in No Country For Old Men, Friday Nights Light and The Last Exorcism, and now Latino Review suggests he may be getting his biggest role yet, as one of the first students in Professor Xavier’s (James McAvoy) School For The Gifted. In the original comics, Banshee is Irish and really called Sean Cassidy. He posesses a sonic scream that can harm his emenies by deafening or stunning them.
X-Men: First Class with chart the relationship between Charles Xavier and Erik Lenscherr (Michael Fassbencer) and the setting up of their school for mutants, before their relationship breaks down, with Holocaust survivor Lenscherr becoming the villainous Magneto.
