Quite a few first pictures have shown up online, including the first official images from the Johnny Depp starring The Rum Diary (courtesy of FilmTotaal), as well as set photos from Pirates Of The Carribean: On Stranger Tides, which started filming this week in Hawaii, and Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens.
You can see the first Rum Diary shot above, and there’s another one below. The Bruce Robinson (Withnail & I) directed movie sees Depp once more take on the work of his friend Hunter S. Thompson, playing freelance journalist Paul Kemp, who tries to find a niche for himself while writing for a small Caribbean newspaper, but finds most of those around him are bent on self-destruction.
On the Pirates Of The Carribean: On Stranger Tides front, Jerry Bruckeheimer has been tweeting photos from the set of the just started shooting film. Interestingly he say that he’s ‘Going to try to share many behind-the-scenes photos from Hawaii’, and that they’ll also appear over at http://www.facebook.com/JBFilms, suggesting we may get a good look at the filmmaking process as the months go by. Although the initial photos aren’t that thrilling, at least they prove Pirates 4 is off the starting blocks.
Finally, Jon Favreau has tweeted the first photo from the set of his upcoming Cowboys & Aliens, which as the name suggests, is all about an extra-terrestrial battle in the old west. The shot he released may not show stars like Daniel Craig or Harrison Ford, but it’s a neat little image of preparations for a night shoot, and shows the sort of ridiculous illumination rigs that are required for filming at night.
