There’s certainly a lot of promise around Never Let Me Go. It’s based on the Booker prize shortlisted novel by Kazuo Ishiguro (The Remains Of The Day), directed by One Hour Photo’s Mark Romanek, has a screenplay by Alex Garland (The Beach, 28 Days Later) and stars Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan, Sally Hawkins, Andrew Garfield and Charlotte Rampling. The plot is about a group of children who grow up in a seemingly idyllic boarding school, but who are actually clones, ‘bred’ to provide organ donations. As they become adults, the difficulties of their situation becomes ever more pressing, especially as they are designed to eventually ‘complete’, that is, to die. Now a haunting first trailer has been released, which sees the film set in a world that looks like the 1950s and plays on the love angle aspect of the plot. Click below to take a look.
