The film adaptation of the game Kane & Lynch is one of those projects that seems to keep going and going and never actually get to the point where they’re shooting it. Bruce Willis has been attached to the movie for ages, while more recently Jamie Foxx came on-board. They also had a director, as it was due to be the feature debut of stunt coordinator and second unit director Simon Crane, but he ditched the project in May over creative difference.
Since then the film’s producers have been scrabbling to find a replacement, producing a short-list that included Roger Donaldson (The Bank Job) and Wayne Kramer (The Cooler). Now THR says that they’ve decided on their top choice and it’s F Gary Gray, director of The Italian Job, Be Cool and Law Abiding Citizen. As yet no deal has been made, but Gray is in early talks for the role.
The movie itself will be based on Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, in which Adam ‘Kane’ Marcus is a death row inmate who is sprung from prison and forced to team up with the psychopathic killer James Lynch (Foxx). They travel the world in order to recover a doomsday device before Kane’s kidnapped wife and daughter are killed by the criminals who broke the duo out of prison for the mission.
