While Stephen Moyer has had great success being all angst-ridden and conflicted as Sookie’s vampire boyfriend Bill in True Blood, so far we haven’t seen him using that popularity to score many film roles. However he seems keen to change that, as THR reports he’s lined himself up two movies, The Double and The Big Valley.
In The Double he’ll star opposite Richard Gere and Topher Grace, playing a Russian spy in a story about a retired CIA operative (Gere), who’s forced to reluctantly team up with a cocky young upstart (Grace), in order to hunt down the killer of a senator in Washington. The film will mark the directing debut of writer Michael Brandt (Wanted, 3:10 To Yuma).
Moyer will shoot his role in that film later this month, before moving onto The Big Valley in July, which is based on a 1960s TV series which starred Barbara Stanwyck. Jessica Lange will be stepping into Stanwyck’s role as the matriarch of a 19th Century cattle ranching family. Moyer will play Jarrod Barkley, the family’s respected attorney who represents ranchers fighting to keep their land from being taken by railroad companies.
With both being supporting roles, he should be able to fit them in before returning to the True Blood set for more vampire shenanigans.
