A couple of weeks ago we reported that sources at Summit Entertainment, the company behind the Twilight films, were hinting that because of salary disputes with members of the vampiric Cullen family – most notably Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene – they were considering replacing them in Breaking Dawn.
The probem stemmed from the fact that while all the actors are under contract for four films, Summit wants to break Breaking Dawn in two, meaning everyone’s deals need to be renegotiated, with pay rises all around. Although this was sorted for the main stars and many of the others, the Cullen kids were negotiating as a group and felt the offer they were made was an insult (it was a lot more than they got for the first film, but due to the success of the Twilight franchise and the money they can now command elsewhere, they still felt it wasn’t enough).
However Summit Entertainment has now released a statement saying the problems have been sorted out, and Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone and Ashley Greene will all return for Breaking Dawn. Although the company is still not definitively saying the final book will be split in two, that fact deals have now been reached with the Cullen kids suggest heavily that it will.
Bill Condon is directing, with shooting due to start later this year, and a release date (for Part 1 at least) is set for November 18th, 2011.
Incidentally, three new US posters for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse have also hit, so take a look at them below (that movie hits UK cinemas on July 9th).
