With filming coming to a close on the final Harry Potter movie, the young cast are now going to have to go off and their own and see if they can fids success elsewhere. Although Emma Watson has previously mentioned she might leave acting in movies behind for a while post Deathly Hallows, so she can study professionally, it appears she’s changed her mind and is now busy looking for non-Potter roles and is in talks for the indie coming of age drama, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower.
Logan Lerman, the star of Percy Jackson who was recently announced as D’Artagnan in Paul W.S. Anderson’s upcoming Musketeers movie, is also in negotiations for the film, which will be based on author Stephen Chbosky’s 1999 novel.
The plot is about a shy, unpopular teen who in the the book describes his life through a series of letter written to an anonymous person, where he describes the difficulties of adolescence, including his brushes with drug use, suicide and homosexuality. Due to the hot button issues it touches upon, the book has been on the American Library Association’s list of the top ten most frequently challenged books.
If Watson does take the role, it would be her first proper movie outside the Potter series, with her other credits only extending to the 2007 TV movie Ballet Shoes and a voice role in The Tale Of Despereaux.
