If you thought we’d seen the last of John McClane with the fourth instalment in the Die Hard franchise, think again. From the moment that movie cleaned up at the box office, there’s been a buzz that both Bruce Willis and 20th Century Fox would like another crack at the character, and they’d prefer to do it sooner than later.
In an effort to get the fifth Die Hard flick motoring, THR reports that Fox has hired Skip Woods to take a crack at the script. Although he’s not exactly a household name, in the past few years Woods has built quite a reputation by working on tenplot action pics. He wrote Swordfish and also co-wrote Hitman, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and the upcoming A-Team movie.
As a result Fox seems to think he’s the man to take on McClane, although there’s no news yet on what the plot of Die Hard 5 might be. Safe to say though, it’ll involved the beleagured New York once more being in the wrong place at the wrong time and ending up in a grubby white vest.
Previous Die Hard sequels have got mired in script problems, but hopefully that won’t happen this time and we’ll get to see McClane’s next OTT but entertaining adventure sooner rather than later.
