Here’s the latest casting news coming out of Hollywood…
I’ve always felt Josh Lucas was a rather unlucky actor. He’s been around for quite a while, but has never had the role that’s catapulted him to A-list stardom. Indeed most of his biggest roles, such as in Stealth, have been huge flops (although I don’t think that was down to him). However recently he’s taken to toplining indie flicks, such as the upcoming Hurricane Katrina supernatural thriller Little Murder and now the newly announced Aussie flick Red Dog. The film, due out in 2011, is about a canine who helps unite an Australian mining community in the 1970s. Lucas is joined by Rachael Taylor, Noah Taylor, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Luke Ford, Rohan Nichol and Arthur Angel in the film, which will be directed by Krix Stenders. (Source; Variety)
Stata Kunic may not be a particularly well known name, except to fans of the Nathan Fillion murder-mystery TV series, Castle, where she plays Detective Kate Beckett (she also had a small role in Quantum Of Solace), but she’s now landed the lead role in the Polish Brothers’ movie, For Lover’s Only (Mark Polish is writing and starring in the film, while Michael Polish directs). The story is inspired by Claude Lalouch’s A Man and a Woman and the French New Wave, and centres on a couple fleeing Paris and travelling by train, car and motorcycle as their love affair takes them across France from Normandy to St. Tropez. Both main characters experience long periods of carefree bliss and joy punctuated by brief moments of guilt and confusion with the final outcome left open to interpretation. (Source: Variety)
Hot on the heels of the news Glee star Dianna Agron has nabbed the female romantic lead role in I Am Number Four, comes the info that Kevin Durand and Callan McAuliffe have also been cast in the movie. Durand will play ‘The Commander’ who chases Alex Pettyfer and Teresa Palmer’s Number Four and Number Six characters to Earth from their alien planet. McAuliffe is said to play the role of Sam, who becomes Number Four’s best friend. D.J. Caruso is directing the film, in which alien teens hide out on Earth, posing as humans. Shooting begins next month. (Source: Filmdrunk)
