Here’s the latest casting news coming out of Hollywood…
Only a couple of weeks ago, Max Irons was being touted as being up for a role in Pirates of the Caribbean 4, and now it seems he’s landed another movie role, this time in Catherine Hardwicke’s The Girl With The Red Riding Hood. Jeremy Irons’ son will join Amanda Seyfried and Shiloh Fernandez in the film, which is a new take on the classic farytale, and will follow a girl in a medieval village who’s being terrorised by a werewolf. Irons will play the third member of the film’s central love triangle, a blacksmith’s son who supposed to marry Seyfried, even though she’s in love with Fernandez (it’s all sounding a bit Twilight-y, although this is being described as gothic horror rather than teen romance). Also in talks for the film are Julie Christie, who would play Seyfried’s grandmother and Gary Oldman, who would be Father Solomon, a Witchfinder General whose job is to find and kill the werewolf. Greta Gerwig has been cast in Ivan Reitman’s currently untitled new comedy (previously known as Friends With Benefits), opposite Natalie Portman, Ashton Kutcher and Kevin Kline. The film, as the earlier title suggests, is described as ‘an inverse Harry Met Sally,’ a sex comedy where two friends in a purely physical relationship begin to develop true romantic feelings for one another. Gerwig will play the brainy friend of Portman’s character, who’s the first to realise Kutcher wants more than just a roll in the hay. Ophelia Lovibond and Ben Lawson have also been cast. It seems Danny Trejo & Vinnie Jones are attached to Tammi Sutton’s outlaw biker indie Welcome to Graveland, which is due to start filming this July. The film is about a female biker on a quest for vengeance in a world where roles are reversed – men are the weaker companions and the “objects of desire and conquest”. (Source: Cinema Blend)
Back in January it was announced that Saw director James Wan was teaming up with the producers of Paranormal Activity for a movie called The Further. However while it’s also been known as Insidious, it now appears to be going by the title The Astral and has started filming. New cast members have been announced, with Rose Byrne, Patrick Wilson and Barbara Hershey all signing up for the film. The movie, which brings Wan back together with Saw co-writer Leigh Whanell, is about a family who discover that the body of their comatose young son has become a magnet for malevolent, supernatural entities, while his consiciousness is trapped in another dimension.
