In the middle of last year, we reported that British director Peter Chelsom (Shall We Dance?, Hannah Montana: The Movie), was lining up a film based on a script by Dan Fogelman (Cars), about four semi-retired baby boomers from Coney Island, who head off to Las Vegas when the last of them, a successful lawyer in his 70s, decides to tie the knot. So basicallty it’s The Hangover with old people.
The movie, which now seems to have been given a name – Last Vegas – is rolling along with the almost inevitable news (via Vulture) that CBS Films has sent out an offer to Jack Nicholson to play the lead role. Although there’s no news on what the actor thinks of this, looking at his recent track record, it’s the sort of movie he’s been going for – a comedy that plays on his easy charm. Indeed, those familiar with the script suggest that it looks like the role of Billy Gerson was written specifically with Nicholson in mind.
There’s no news on who the filmmakers might be looking at to play the other old boys, although expect rumours surrounding the likes of Morgan Freeman soon.
