Kids grow up so fast, don’t they? Only a few years ago Freddie Highmore was the innocent little kid in Finding Neverland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but now he’s 18-years-old and looking for projects that more suit a young man. It seems he’s found one, as Variety reports that he’s currently shooting the teen romance, Homework, which is set to wrap this week in New York.
Joining him in the film are Emma Roberts, Alicia Silverstone, Gia Walsh, Rita Wilson, Sam Robards and Michael Angarano. In the film Highmore plays a homework-averse high school student who strikes up an unexpected friendship with the girl (Roberts) he’s loved from a distance for years. The movie marks the film debut of writer-director Gavin Wiesen.
It all sounds wrong to me. Highmore shouldn’t have romances. He’s meant to be all small and sweet, and desperate to look round chocolate factories, not hoping to get his end away. However kids will insist on growing up. It’ll be interesting to see whether he can handle to transition from child to adult star, as while he has the talent, many have faltered during that tricky late teens phase.
