Stephan Elliott has had an unusual career. He broke out in 1994 with Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert, followed it wil the far less successful Welcome To Woop Woop and Eye Of The Beholder and then disappeared for a decade, only re-emerging in 2008 with the period drama Easy Virtue.
The reason for the huge gap was a bit of a crisis of confidence followed by a huge skiing accident, which nearly killed him. However after he recovered, he found the experience had revived his interest in making movies.
Now he’s announced that he’s planning a new flick, which will take him back to Australia for the comedy A Few Best Men. Variety reports that the movie will based on a script by Dean Craig, about a young groom and his three best men who head to to outback for a destination wedding, which turns out to be as disastrous as it is funny. It almost sounds like a straight Priscilla, which is fine by me.
The film will shoot on location in Queensland this August. There’s no cast attached as yet.
