Disney has officially announced the UK DVD and Blu-ray release of their huge hit, Alice In Wonderland. As you may remember, Odeon Cinemas nearly boycotted the Tim Burton film’s theatrical release due to the House Of Mouse’s decision to release the movie only 12-13 weeks after the cinema release, rather than the usual 17 weeks. This is so Disney can bring it out during the summer half-term holiday.
However as the movie has now grossed over £40 million in the UK, worries the closeness of the DVD release would cut into the box office don’t seem to have held true (although it was more the principle of shortening the theatrical window than the specific film Odeon was objecting to).
Unusually Disney’s bringing out the film on DVD on a Friday, rather than a Monday, and it’ll hit stores on June 4th.
