Although it’s currently a case of we’ll believe it when we see it, rumours have been swirling around the internet over the last few hours that Iron Man 2 will include a brief end-of-credits sequence giving us our first look at Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Chris Evans as Captain America. However, a quick proviso. While this is what the rumours have said, that’s not quite what was initially reported on the Italian website, badtaste.it, which first broke the news.
What they actually wrote (translated into English) was, ‘A 100% trusted source (NOT from the production/distribution, but very familiar with the movie) confirmed with us today that there will be an easter egg in IM2. Its an extra scene, just like the one in the first movie, after the end credits. We are able to tell you whats about! Its a scene about Captain America and Thor! Maybe this doesnt seem a big reveal, but its nice to have a confirmation.’
While it may be about Captain America and Thor, that doesn’t mean it will actually feature the actors playing them in the individual films. In fact it’s more likely to be another titbit setting up how the heroes are going to come together for The Avengers. It would be particularly unlikely Evans will show up, as he only got the Cap role a couple of weeks ago, although there may be other ways to squeeze him in (Thor is more feasible as that’s been in production for a while, so I wouldn’t be shocked if Hemsworth somehow makes an appearance in IM2). So while it looks likely there will be an Easter Egg scene, what it will specifically be about – other than the formation of The Avengers – is still up in the air.
