The first two photos from the upcoming thriller, The Adjustment Bureau, have been released by Universal (via Movieweb), showing Damon and Emily Blunt looking a bit harried and serious. That said, I can’t quite see the point of releasing such generic shots as people’s first look at a film, as they’re hardly likely to get that many people excited, even through the premise of the film promises some interesting ideas. As so often happens, the first pics released show us very little other than who’s going to star in the movie.
Adapted from the Philip K Dick short story called The Adjustment Team, the film follows an up and coming congressman (Damon) who meets a beautiful ballet dancer (Blunt), only to discover that strange circumstances keep them apart. It’s a story where much of the success relies on the twist, so hopefully they’ll pull it off well in the movie. The film is the directorial debut of Ocean’s Twelve, The Sentinel and The Bourne Ultimatum screenwriter George Nolfi, and will also star Anthony Mackie, John Slattery, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Michael Kelly and Terence Stamp. The Adjustmen Bureau is due out this summer.
