Have your say about cinema

Justin Timberlake Wants Friends With Benefits – The star is in talks for Will Gluck’s no-strings sex comedy

7th April 2010 By Tim Isaac

No-strings sex is all the rage in Hollywood at the moment. Well, I have a feeling it’s always been all the rage in Hollywood, but now they’re putting it on screen. There are currently three different projects in development, all of which are currently going by the title, Friends With Benefits. While it’s a safe bet only one will make it to the screen by that name, it certainly suggest a bit of a preoccupation in Tinsel Town with shagging your mates.

The latest to emerge, according to Deadline, has Will Gluck (Easy A) at the helm, with Justin Timberlake in final negotations to star. As expected with a comedy called Friends With Benefits, it concerns a headhunter who recruits a magazine editor and since each is too busy to find a mate, they agree to sleep together with no strings attached. Things get complicated when the guy falls for the girl, who’s dating someone else.

The other Friends With Benefits projects are a film which Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman are attached to, which used to go by the title Fuckbuddies. Obviously no one’s going to put that on a cinema marquee, so they changed the name, and it now looks likely they’ll have to change it again. The other is a TV series, which got the pilot greenlight last month from NBC, and concerns five friends who bed-hop while looking for true love.
