Why do people keep casting Winona Ryder in films? I’m not against her because of the whole bizarre shoplifting thing, but because I’m yet to see a film she’s starred in where she seems like anything approaching a good actress. In fact the likes of Beetlejuice and Heather score extra points in my book for being good despite her presence. Nevertheless she’s still getting work, with Deadline reporting that she’s been cast as one of the leads in Ron Howard’s new film, Cheaters.
The film, previously known as Your Cheating Heart (which presumably got changed as there’s a Hank Williams biopib also in pre-production) is about a man (Vince Vaughn) who is tortured when he sees his best friend’s (Kevin James’) wife getting intimate with another man and is wracked with indecision over whether to divulge the secret. Ryder will play the cheating hussy who causes all the trauma.
And yes, like you we’re wondering how someone like Kevin James might have ended up marrying Winona Ryder, but perhaps there something in the script to explain that.
Shooting on the film is expected to start shortly, with a release planned for sometime next year.
