Mandalay Pictures is certainly lining up a decent cast for its satire, Salvation Boulevard. A few weeks ago they announced that lined up Pierce Brosnan, Ed Harris and Jim Gaffigan, and now Variety reports that Jennifer Connelly and Greg Kinnear have both signed up to star in the flick, while Marisa Tomei is in talks to join them.
The satire, based on a book by Wag The Dog author Larry Beinhart, is set in the world of US mega-churches. A former Deadhead turned born again Christian private investigator finds himself on the run from fundamentalist members of his church, who will do anything to protect the reputation of their larger-than-life pastor, after he gets mixed up in the murder of an atheist professor.
Whille we don’t known what roles everyone will play, it’s a good cast and the plot sounds like it could be a lot of fun.
Filming on Salvation Boulevard is set to start in April, from a script by Douglas Stone. Geroge Ratliff will direct.
