After taking time off to have her babies, J-Lo is back, hitting US cinemas next month with The Back-Up Plan. Now she’s got another another comedy in the works, as THR reports that she’s in talks to star in the remake of the 1987 Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell comedy, Overboard, which Will Smith is producing (but so far not starring in) for Sony.
Although the original was a flop at the cinema, it had a long life on video and is now popular on TV, and so the studio reckons it’s worth having another go-around. The movie is about a spoiled rich woman who treats people like crap, but gets amnesia when she falls off her yacht. The man she’s failed to pay for work he’d done on her boat then says he’s actually her husband, and gets her to pose as his wife in order to trick her into paying him. Although the premise is a bit creepy, the film ain’t bad.
While earlier reports suggested Sony wanted Katherine Heigl to star, the baton now seems to have been passed to Jennifer Lopez. And to my mind that ain’t good news.
