A new company, Bedrock Studios, has launched by announcing that their first project will be an animated flick called Turkeys. Although it’s the sort of title that sounds as if they’re asking reviewers to hate it, just so they can come up with clever lines revolving around it being a turkey and also being called Turkeys (oh the hilarity), the film actually sounds bizarre enough to be entertaining.
Variety reports that the film will feature the voice talent of Woody Harrelson and Owen Wilson, as a pair of turkeys (I can see more bad reviewer jokes coming already), who discover a time machine and travel back to the first thanksgiving to take themselves off the menu. I smell some backdoor education there, but don’t tell the kids.
Luke Wilson will also voice an unknown character in the movie.
Bedrock has other projects up its sleeve, including a new version of the Rats Of NIMH, as well as the adventures A Wrinkle In Time and Dinosaur Bob. The company has been set up by long-standing industry exec Cary Granat and visual effects whizz Ed Jones. As Jones owns his own effects company, they hope to be able to produce big movies at small prices. However Turkeys will be their first film, and should hit cinemas next year.
