Christopher Nolan’s Inception is undoubtedly the most mysterious major movie of the year, with the only thing the director has officially said about the film is that it takes place ‘within the architecture of the mind’.
While it’s believed it’ll involve a blackmail scheme, with people able to literally go inside other people’s minds in order to plant and retrieve information, we really know very little about it (you can watch the cool trailer here, but don’t expect it to tell you much about the plot).
However recently Empire sat down to talk to Leo DiCaprio about Shutter Island and briefly got him to chat about his upcoming lead role Inception. It’s obvious that Leo is embargoed from revealing all that much, but he does have a couple of interesting things to say. He notes that, “It is complicated. It’s a complicated story-structure, but it’s sprung from the great filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s mind, and he’s been able to take highly complex jigsaw puzzles in a narrative and put them together like we’ve never seen.”
“This is a plot-structure that’s working on multiple layers simultaneously – and quite literally when I say simultaneously, I do mean multiple narratives simultaneously. So everyone’s going to be in for a treat when they see it, including me.”
He also says he’s not entirely sure how Nolan is going to pull it off and is looking forward to watching the movie so he can see, but has faith that the man behind Memento knows what he’s doing.
Head over to the Empire site for video of DiCario discussing the film. Inception hits UK cinemas on July 16th.
