Anne Hathaway and Kim Sturgess are in early negotations to star in One Day, an adaptation of David NIcholls’ romantic novel that An Education director Lone Scherfig is planning to make.
The story revolves around Dexter and Emma, who meet for the first time during their graduation from Edinburgh University in 1988. The narrative then follows a single day of their lives each year for the next 20 years, tracking their lives and loves until they realise they are meant for each other.
Although it’s one of those contrived set-ups that only ever happen in fiction, it’s nevertheless are intriguing framing device for a movie, and Scherfig showed with An Education that she could handle this kind of story well. Plus it should give Hathaway the chance for a lot of different haricuts and retro outfits.
THR reports that at the moment neither actor has signed on the dotted line, but they strike me as a duo who could work well together on screen.
