It seems that following the mild success of Cop Out, Hollywood has big plans for comedian Tracy Morgan, with Deadline reporting that he’s got two new movies lined up. The former SNL player and current 30 Rock star is heading back to celluloid with Cop Out producers Warner Bros for ID Theft, which is descibed as “a comedy that casts him as a cash-strapped father who sees a shortcut out of his struggles when the credit card of a suburban dad lands in his lap”.
The first draft of the script by Colin Jost and Rob Klein is already complete, and Morgan’s given his thoughts on it beofre the writers head back into seclusion for to work on it a bit more.
Less is known about the other movie, although it’s called called Freshman Roommate and will co-star Cloverfield’s TJ Miller. Paramount is currently negotiating wit John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky to write the next draft of the screenplay because original writers John Mulaney and Nick Kroll are booked.
However it remains to be seen whether Morgan’s schtick of acting like he’s a bit of a moron can hold a film, although it certainly seems Hollywood is keen to give it a go.
