With Hollywood expecting Robin Hood, Clash Of The Titans and Prince Of Persia to reignite interest in historical fantasy this year, they’re all lining up future flicks that will fit into the niche. However, currently they all seem to be having the same, rather obvious, idea.
While there are already two King Arthur tales being developed at Warner (one under Bryan Singer and another Guy Ritchie is circling), it looks like we can add a third as Fox based production company new Regency is working on a movie called Pendragon.
The LA Times reports that “The Pendragon script, from Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy, is an origin story of a sort, looking at characters like Arthur, Lancelot and Guinevere as they meet at Camelot.” Hmm, I smell someone trying to set up a franchise.
Sylvain White, who made Stomp The Yard and directs the upcoming action film The Losers (which is out in a couple of months), is currently in talks to helm to movie, although little more is known about the movie or what the timetable is to get it into cinemas. At the moment it’s less a case of who will pull the sword from the stone, and more which production company will get their Arthur movie made first.
