Andrew Adamson has had an impressive career. Despite the fact he’s only ever directed four films, BoxOfficeMojo nevertheless ranks him the 13th highest grossing helmer in US box office history. In fact he’s never had a movie that made less than $400 million around the world, a feat novody else has even come close to achieving.
However, after the first two Shrek movies and the first two Narnia films he stepped away from both franchises, and now it looks like he’s found something new to direct. Variety reports that he’s working on a big budget fantasy called Fountain City. The $100 million+ movie will part financed by Lightstream Pictures, which has prememptively picked up the project. Lightstream is a fairly new company, but it was set up by an Irish billionaire to make big budget movies and has a lot of money behind it, so expect to hear more about it in the future.
Unfortunately though, there’s absolutely no word on what Fountain City is about, other than that it’s based on a pitch by Adamson Adamson and Joby Harold (Awake, Ronin), with the former directing and the latter writing the script. We’ll let you know more when we hear something.
