Most of the young actors from Harry Potter have pretty much had their entire lives taken up with playing wizards for the past decade, but with the record-breaking franchise set to finish filming very soon, the actors now have to look forward to what they want to do next, and see if they can build a career outside Hogwarts.
It seems Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, has found his next role, starring in the adaptation of Nicholas Spark’s novel, The Lucky One. The new came from tweets by producer Christine Vachon (via /Film), who said, “Heading to Doug McGrath’s script reading, starring Daniel Radcliffe–“, “Daniel Radcliffe and Lily Rabe were AMAZING together!”
Although she doesn’t specifically say it’s The Lucky One, it is known Doug McGrath’s current project is handling the script for The Lucky One (he may also direct, although the studio has also approached Scott Hicks), and Radcliffe and Lily Rabe would seem to fit the roles. The Lucky One is about a Marine who, while on a tour of duty in Iraq, finds a photo of a mysterious woman. He stashes away the photo for good luck and then uncovers a group of secrets when he eventually seeks out the woman.
James Franco was previously said to be in preliminary talks for the lead, but it seems Radcliffe has beaten him to the punch. Although it may turn out Dan and Lily are cast in a different movie, it certainly seems as if The Lucky One could be Radcliffe’s first post-Potter role.
