While Tarsem Singh is yet to make a film that’s unequivocally good, both The Cell and The Fall are visually awesome, and he’s the sort of person you get the feeling will make a masterpiece one day. His next attempt to wow cinema audiences is War Of The Gods, which is due to start shooting in April.
Now news comes, via Variety, that Slumdog Millionaire actress Frieda Pinto has joined the cast of the film. The movie itself follows Hollywoods current fad of mining Greek mythology for movie plots, and follows Theseus (played by The Tudors actor, Henry Cavill) leading his men into battle against the ancient Greek gods, in order to destroy evil, defeat the Titans and save mankind.
Pinto is onboard as Pheadra, an oracle priestess who joins Theseus into order to try and prevent a catacylsmic war that will end humanity.
The film entered development around the same time as Clash of The Titans, but has taken far longer to get off the ground (which perhaps isn’t that surprising with Tarsem on board, as he likes to take his time). However it may actually work in its favour, because if Clash reignites interest in the beasties of myth, War Of The Gods will be there to satiate people’s appetites.
