I know it makes me sound like an old fart, but I still think 50 Cent is an astonishingly stupid name, but ol’ Curtis Jackson hass done well since his rather felonious youth and now he’s got a new film up his sleeve. Variety reports that Fiddy is getting ready to start filming Things Fall Apart, which he and Randall Emmett have put together via their production company, Cheetah Vision Films.
Based on a scipt by Jackson and Brian Miller, the film is about a star football running back who faces a personal tragedy as well as his own mortality, during his final year in college. It sounds rather generic and it’ll be interesting to see how they’re hoping to pull off the 34-year-old rapper playing a football player in his early 20s.
Actor turned director Mario Van Peebles will helm the movie, which start shooting in May. Interestingly though, because 50 Cent earns so much money from his music, he’s planning to fund the relatively low-budget the Cheetah Vision movies himself, allowing projects he’s passionate about to get funding, which probably wouldn’t get money elsewhere (and of course a bigger slice of the profits for him if things pay off).
