While Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s job used to be to die in series like Grey’s Anatomy and Supernatural, it seems since playing The Comedian in Watchmen (where he also died), for some reasonHollywood has decided they’d like to see him as a detective from now. Last week it was announced he’d be playing a policeman who retired after nearly being killed by a serial killer in The Unblinking Eye, and now comes news he’ll be starring opposite Sam Worthington in The Fields (previously known as The Texas Killing Fields).
The film, which is set to be Ami Canaan Mann’s (Michael Mann’s daughter) directorial debut, will see Worthington play a Texas homicide detective who joins with a New York detective to investigate unsolved murders in the Texas bayous. It’s partially based on the true story of the Killing Field murders, where numerous bodies turned up along the same stretch of highway near Texan oil refineries.
Variety reports that Morgan is up for the part of the New York detective (which was previously rumoured for Bradley Cooper). The thing I find most interesting about the movie is that it was written by an actual Texas policeman, so should offer an interesting take on the crime thriller.
