Noel Clarke may still be best known to many people for playing Rose Tyler’s pal Mikey in Doctor Who, but since then he’s taken the indie film world by storm, writing Kidulthood, and then directing the sequel, Adulthood. He’s now preparing for the release of the unconventional heist films, 4.3.2.1. which he co-wrote and co-directed.
Variety reports that he’s got another film in the offing, called Fast Girls, about a group of female London athletes vying to compete for their country at the 2012 Olympic Games. Unsurprisingly, the plan is to release it at the height of Olympic fever in two years time, when the UK will be hosting the event.
Described as a being in the vein of Rocky, it seems we can expect lots of people beating the odds. Clarke is writing and producing the film, and may also direct, although there’s no certainty he’ll be behind-the-camera on this one.
