With shooting on the big-budget Green Lantern movie starting in only a few weeks time, another actor has joined the film. This time it’s Tim Robbins who’ll be getting his comic book on, as Senator Hammond.
He’ll join Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern (aka Hal Jordan), Blake Lively as the hero’s love interest, Carol Ferris, and Peter Sargaard as the main villain, Hector Hammond. If you noticed that both Sarsgaard and Robbins’ characters have the same las name, that’s because they’re father and son in the film. THR suggests that there’s going to be some friction between the two in the film, as the Senator disapproves of his kid, however when Hector gets some psychic powers, he goes on the rampage.
Unfortunately though, there’s little news on the extent of Robbins role, as he could be central to the plot, or just thrown in to add a bit of weight to why his son is such a bastard.
As THR notes, it’s not Robbins first comic book movie, as early in his career he starred in the George Lucas 1986 dud, Howard The Duck, but the less said about that, the better.
