Despite Hollywood’s best efforts, Danny McBride is yet to become as big a comedy star as many think he should be. However that isn’t going to stop the Tropic Thunder and Pineapple Express star from trying, as he’s now attached to play the lead in the action comedy, L.A.P.I.
Variety says that the film is being put together by Rough House Pictures, a production company recently set up by McBride and directors Jody Hill and David Gordon Green. Observe & Report helmer Hill will take directing duties on L.A.P.I,, which is about a beaten down, hard-boiled PI. No other details on the plot have been released, so goodness knows what McBride will actually be getting up to.
It’s not the first time Danny and Jody have worked together, as they made The Foot FIst Way a couple of years ago and co-created the HBO series, Eastbound & Down.
The screenplay for L.A.P.I. was written by Michael Diliberti and Matthew Sullivan, who are both quite hot at the moment, having has two scripts on the 2009 Black List, and getting hired to write a remake of Brewster’s Millions.
