The loss of Robert Downey Jr. doesn’t seem to have slowed down plans for Cowboys & Aliens, the comic book adaptation Jon Favreau that is directing about a group of wild west cownboys and indians who have to stop fighting and come together to ward off an even greater foe – a crashed UFO.
Daniel Craig was brought in a couple of weeks ago to replace Downey Jr and now THR reports that House star Olivia Wilde in in negotiations to co-star in the movie. She’d play a character called Ella, who teams up with a mysterious gunslinger (Craig) in an attempt to take on the alien invasion.
The next couple of years could certainly be good for Wilde, as not only has she got the House gig, but she’ll also be seen in Paul Haggis’ unpcoming thriller, The Next Three Days, and she takes a major role in next Christmas’ Tron Legacy. It really could be the birth of a new movie star, with Cowboys & Aliens being the icing on the cake.
Filming on Cowboys & Aliens is due to begin this summer, with a release set for mid-2011.
